Two decades ago just a few ones could figure out how important Information Technologies (IT) would become for the companies operation. Nowadays, companies count on PCs, servers, hubs, routers, switches, VoIP systems, etc. for their operation. Today, even in small companies it is usual to find a PC on each desk.

Even though companies try to invest cleverly in technology, acquire the most developed, the most reliable equipment, etc. in order to gain a competitive advantage and  improve their productivity. Most of them diminish the importance of the power that "feeds" such systems.

The growing number of electric-sensitive devices connected to the utility grids unveils a very important subject: the quality of the power that feeds the digital economy. Power disturbances have an impact on the companies operation, their productivity and therefore in their profitability.
